Racism in the Lens of the Gospel - A Resource Guide

Posted by Team PTWLA on

There is no lack of voices out there speaking about the issue of racism.  As followers of Jesus, it was important for Yna and me to filter out all the information available and process it from the perspective of God’s ultimate plan for mankind and our mission as His ambassadors in this world at this time.

Story of Hope - Day 5: LIVING HOPE

Remember the fall in Genesis chapter 3? The Book of Revelation is God’s triumphant response to what the enemy thought was his victory. It details for us how God’s redemption plan will conclude.

Story of Hope - Day 4: SO LOVED

More than any other kind of literature, I really view Scripture as God’s love letter to man. From that fall, He has pursued us, sought us, and continues to do so. We put “SO LOVED” there, just like how it was written in John 3:16 because it expresses that weight.

Story of Hope - Day 3: YES AND AMEN

Posted by Team PTWLA on

Reading: Genesis 12-15, 2 Corinthians 1:20, Isaiah 55:10-11

As we read the rest of Genesis, we continue to see the effects of sin in more vivid detail. Murder, idolatry, and immorality in the stories of Cain and Abel, Noah, and the Tower of Babel are evidence of how much sin has corrupted the world. Then in chapter 12-15, God calls Abram and gives him a covenant - a great name and a great nation. But most importantly, God gave Abraham His Word that through his line will come the Messiah - the one who will save man from sin once and for all.

Abraham responds in faith and God fulfills every single one of His promises. Fast forward to the New Testament and we trace that from Abraham’s descendants, Jesus came. Jesus is the fulfillment of every other promise of Scripture. For all of God’s promises finds its “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Jesus is the fulfillment of every other promise of Scripture. For all of God’s promises finds its “Yes” and “Amen” in Christ.

We are blessed to live in a time when we get to look back on how it all happened. There were challenges and, what seemed to be, impossible situations. But through each obstacle, we see the sovereign hand of God move and carry on His Word and His plan. It did not tarry. It did not fail. It carried out what it was sent forth for it to accomplish (Isaiah 55:10-11). When God gives His Word, He fulfills it.

So, what does God say about us who belong to Him? Well, there is so much we can claim when we read the Scriptures but I would like to highlight some today that are relevant to the current condition we are experiencing right now:

In Christ Jesus the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. Philippians 4:7, “The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

In Christ Jesus everything you really needed will be supplied. Philippians 4:19, “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

In Christ Jesus you have been seated in the heavenly places even while he lived on earth. Ephesians 2:6, “[God] raised us up with [Christ] and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

This is our security as believers. We can trust what the Word of the God says about our identity, our situation and our future. It is an encouragement to remain steadfast in our faith, no matter our circumstance. It is a call for us to be faithful because we have a faithful, covenant-keeping God!

REFLECT:

Look at your prayer list. What are items that you feel most comfortable asking God about? What are those you hesitate to bring to Him?

Why do you think you have these hesitations?

Story of Hope - Day 2: BUT GOD

Posted by Team PTWLA on

Not even three full chapters into Genesis, man falls into sin and changes the entire course of history. But before this same chapter ends, God already gives a glimpse of his redemption plan for man. Verses 14-19 reveal to us a lot about the character of God.
